SCULPTURE IN THE CITY

In 2007, ART on the SQUARE created Sculpture in the City. This program encourages groups, individuals, corporations and families to purchase sculpture from ART on the SQUARE artists and then donate these pieces to the city for placement in public places. After four years, Belleville’s landscape has been enhanced with fourteen pieces of sculpture. These sculptures are on view throughout the year and serve as a reminder of Belleville’s commitment to the arts. ART on the SQUARE is known as a national leader among art fairs and as Sculpture in the City grows, the look of Belleville is proudly reflecting this reputation.

A diverse group of patrons make up the list of sculpture donors. To date, this is the list of artists, sculptures and donors:

  • “Urban Vision” by Michael Baker given in memory of Lynn Callison
  • “Flying Cubes” by Michael Baker, given in memory of Kirk Badgely
  • “Duet” by Dale Rogers, donated by Mathis, Marifian and Richter
  • “Rays of Success” by Gary Karasek, given by Memorial Hospital Auxilary in honor of the 50th anniversary of Memorial Hospital
  • “The Butterfly” by Marina Lee, given in honor of Homer and Jane Weidmann
  • “The Raven” by Dale Rogers, given by the artist, presented to Belleville Public Library
  • “Guitar” by Dale Rogers, presented to the students of Althoff High School by ART on the SQUARE
  • “Number 2” by Kevin Trobough, donated by Delta Theta Tau
  • “American Dog” by Dale Rogers, given in memory of A.F “Doc” and Delores Eckert
  • “Hand” by Dale Rogers, donated by the Lancer Improvement Association
  • “Two Roads” by Dale Rogers, given by the Graebe Family to Belleville West High School
  • “Mobile” by Kevin Trobough, given to the students of Belleville West High School by the West Belleville Promotional Committee
  • “Blooming in Belleville” by Marina Lee and the students of Signal Hill and Blessed Sacrament; sponsored by West Belleville Promotional Committee, Memorial Hospital, Heli-Tech Waterproofing and Structural Repair
  • “Hole in Her Heart” by Dale Rogers, given in memory of ART on the SQUARE volunteer, Martha Flannery
